Enchantress is a Bill Tripp classic design, a yawl rig, hull #11, built by Werkspoor (Netherlands). She has spent her entire life in freshwater on the Great Lakes. No salt water exposure!
Three of these boats were in the top 5 finishers of the 1964 Chicago/Mackinac Island Race, where the wind howled and kicked up some serious competition. This 2 masted sailboat has had an extended rig at sometime in her past, with a much taller main and mizzen. This is great for the light wind conditions during the summer on many areas of the Great Lakes. In the spring and fall, you may have to reef or sail under shortened sail of any combination. The yawl rig gives you this option that a sloop does not have.
She has a mahogany-clad transom and teak-clad cockpit. In the main cabin is a custom mahogany folding dining table and custom woodwork everywhere you look. You would think you are aboard a beautiful wooden boat.
